One of the prettiest radios Ranger ever made. The SS-158FB4 is a reliable 10 meter AM-FM-SSB-CW mobile radio. With 175 watts peak AM, 100 watts RMS FM-CW, 400 watts PEP SSB, it provides high performance along with features such as a 6-digit frequency counter, Mic/RF gain, and echo.
The SS-158FB4 has dual echo control and talk back switch along with a blue frequency counter, channel display and meter. Designed for easy mobile operation, an affordable price tag, the SS-158FB4 will answer your needs for SSB mobile operation.
This radio can be upgraded using 4 New HG2879's or 4 Chinese Toshiba 2SC2879 transistors in place of the DEI 2879's (Black Top) transistors these radios come with, producing 900 watts+ PEP. The radio produced almost 1000 watts peak on a 100 amp power supply at 15 volts DC using the Chinese Toshiba 2879's. I recommend a 100+ amp power supply and a 4AWG power wire upgrade to power the radio with these. You should then see it's full potential! Estimated 900 watts+ peak with the HG2879's. And 1000+ with the Chinese Toshiba's. Both the amp board and the transistors are costly and are getting very hard to find. Don't miss out! Get yours now!
Note; Ranger has discontinued manufacture of the 4 Bi-Polar amp radio's. What's in the supply line now is all there is.
