This option locks your TX/RX together. Makes the Clarifier control both TX/RX frequency together. Highly recommended!!! Don't be one of those guys that sounds like Mickey Mouse when he yells CQ_DX! Keep your transmitter and receiver locked together. As one that almost exclusively operates on side band, this mod is a must! It is annoying when someone QSK's into a conversation that is totally off frequency. Then everyone tells them they're off frequency but he is unable to tune his transmit to where he hears everyone else talking. So he inevitably gets ignored. With your clarifier controlling both TX & RX at the same time, where you hear operators talking is where your transmit will be sending. *
The advantage is that your transmitted signal will be on the same frequency as the signal you are receiving. I'm sure if you've heard any skip on channel 38 you've heard people that are way off from everyone else. They sound like Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck. Some are so far off frequency that you cannot even understand what they are saying. To "unlock" the clarifier means that your transmit is no longer "locked" to where it was set at the factory. It allows you to move around the channel frequency to match your receiver and where everyone else is transmitting and receiving. It also allows you to move off frequency to have a more private/quiet conversation with a friend. We sometimes move to .380 vice .385 just to have a more quiet conversation. So yes, lots of benefits. I wish everyone had their clarifier unlocked.
